About the Artist: Casey Zeiler
I started working with ceramics while I was in school, and I immediately fell in love with it. This is now my ninth year working with ceramics, six of which have been spent making wheel-thrown pottery. Over the past two years, I’ve discovered a passion for teaching, something I never expected to enjoy. I love working with new people, getting to know them, and helping build their confidence as they create things they never thought possible.

Ceramics has become more than just an artistic pursuit for me; it’s evolved into a therapeutic outlet and a source of peace and comfort. As the years have passed and I’ve refined my craft, developing my style and technique, I’ve been overwhelmed with gratitude for discovering this passion and having the opportunity to pursue it professionally. It’s a journey of constant growth and learning, one for which I am endlessly thankful to God.

Inspiration
My work is deeply inspired by the bumblebee. My fascination with bees began when I first started at Mary Kay, where I encountered the quote: "Aerodynamically, the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know it, so it goes on flying anyway" (Mary Kay Ash). To me, the bumblebee symbolizes resilience and the ability to achieve the impossible through the grace of God. It’s no surprise that some of my favorite pieces—the ones that bring me the most joy to create—are all rooted in the bumblebee motif, serving as a constant reminder of the beauty and possibility of perseverance.

As for my Cephalopod pieces, I've always been captivated by octopuses. They are incredibly intelligent, fascinating to observe, and undeniably cool! These pieces require great time and patience to complete, but the satisfaction of finishing them makes it all worthwhile. I craft each suction cup by hand, attaching them individually, and then create the texture with meticulous care.

For the rest of my work, I enjoy experimenting with new ideas, shapes, and designs. I love creating pieces that are not only functional but also sculptural. Bright, happy colors tend to emerge in much of my work, reflecting my love for vibrant expression.
Mission
My mission is to create a space where individuals feel safe to explore their creativity, enhance their mental health, and build authentic connections. I am dedicated to fostering an environment that honors God and promotes self-confidence, growth, and healing. I have a deep appreciation for our military and veterans, and I believe the arts can be especially beneficial for this community.
